Small bedroom ideas with plenty of space and style

A good night’s sleep is a good thing, it turns out!

1.Use your space more wisely.

Interior designer Peter Dunham’s tiny Paris home may only be 27 square meters, but that doesn’t mean he’s sacrificing on style.

2.Skip the bedding.

If you’re on a budget, consider buying a resource like a pretty duvet cover or tablecloth for your small bedroom.

3.tapestry
Don’t have the DIY skills to upholster a tablecloth? Don’t have the guts to try a bold color? A tapestry could be the solution for your small bedroom.

4.Keep Your Ceiling White
Gallerist Valentin Goux told us that he “doesn’t do white walls,” but he did go with a white ceiling in his Paris bedroom. Here, the glossy ceiling not only makes the small sleeping area look taller, but also helps reflect the light streaming in from two beautiful windows, thanks to the subtle sheen.

5.Install a canopy
Limited space doesn’t mean you can’t sleep like a queen. For proof, check out this bedroom in an Aspen home designed by ELLE DECOR A-lister Patrick Mele.

6.Play with your crib
If curtains aren’t your thing, consider opting for a bed frame that adds architectural interest. Designer Sam Sacks kept the color palette of this Toronto bedroom bright and white, allowing the four-poster bed to be the star of the space.

7,Pile your accessories

This bohemian room by Schuyler Samperton has lots of little details. Striped walls add height, while the mostly blue hue keeps things pretty. Samperton also made sure to arrange the furniture vertically (check out the beautiful nightstand!), which works well with the rising lines of the wall and headboard.

8.Use Striped Wallpaper

Whether you’re choosing a shirt or decorating a room, vertical stripes create the illusion of height. Designer Michelle R. Smith adorned the walls of her New Orleans home’s guest room with classic blue stripes from Lewis & Wood. Plush blue velvet quilts and charming vintage artwork add a comforting storybook vibe to the space.

9.Try to model everything.

You might think that maximalist style would overwhelm even the most whimsical of homes, but it actually works like a mirror, hiding where the walls begin and end. We’re particularly fond of this wild cheetah-print look from designer Lori Deeds. Bruschwig & Fil’s classic Les Touches pattern adds a surprising touch of Palm Beach glamour.

10.Choose a pretty candle
Lindsay Stall Falconer’s gorgeous New York bedroom is synonymous with elegance. In addition to vibrant grays, blushes, whites, and golds in classic fabrics, she took the bar to the next level with antique wall sconces.

11.Choose a fun headboard
Neutrality guru Augusta Hofmann added playful touches to her client’s bachelor pad, including a headboard-shaped headboard that’s a big step for a small space. We also spotted a space-saving and lightweight mini floating bed.

12.Stacked Complementary Structure

This Parisian home decorated by Eric Allart has been around for centuries, as evidenced by its quirky architecture. Allart adds character to this small bedroom with a matching aqua green floral pattern.

13Choose deep diamonds
Your bedroom may look like a cave, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have cave chic. Take this spiral bedroom by Le Whit, for example. The designers painted the walls a Sherwin-Williams navy blue and upholstered the bed in a burgundy Zak + Fox fabric, a deep shade that invites sleep.

14Setting up camp
We came here specifically to enjoy glamping with tents by Veere Grenney. In this London townhouse, decorators created height and a beautiful look by covering the combined dressing room and sleeping area in Le Gracieux fabrics.

15.Get your head to work.
If your bedroom only has room for one bed, a headboard is the way to go. We love this idea for Mara Brock Akil’s Los Angeles home, designed by Tiffany Howell. This custom-designed blue velvet bed, bedside tables, lighting and 1970s glamour are all over the place.
