The interior design practice Olive Roof, founder and director of the company, brings the vintage dream to life with its dark work, color imagination and use of artificial materials. The sophisticated kitchen features soothing blue tones and gray quartz countertops and black tiled cabinets. To match this atmosphere, hexagonal tiles cover the floor and green handmade tiles are used on the backsplash. Be determined to create a home that brings you back to the present, but not at the expense of getting rid of the past, especially if it has vintage Vogue covers from the past and red Portuguese marble flowers all over. “To be honest, they’re the first things I see,” Mirta admits of the 753-square-metre, 1960s apartment she was recently commissioned to renovate in Rome’s Farnesi district. “I never take my eyes off them.” –
The kitchen, designed by Mirta, is open-plan. An interesting detail is the contrast between the smooth burgundy and terracotta walls. The two-tone kitchen adds a white platform to balance the energy.
Bright Green
Hema Persad created the colour scheme for actress Poorna Jagannathan’s Los Angeles home. Everything from the veranda to the living room to the kitchen is done in the tone. The kitchen cabinets are painted Farrow & Ball’s Cathedral Green, and the vertical tiles on the backsplash are a dark green. The brass accents add a strong rustic vibe to the space.

To add some character, Mohan chose a variety of stone finishes, from Carrara and Badilio in the kitchen to green quartzite in the dining room. “Transformability is the best and most satisfying thing,” says Mohan, who chose green cabinets, brass fittings and diamond stone flooring for the space. The countertops are made of white honed natural marble, and the backsplash is a Carrara marble hexagon mosaic tile designed by Ann Sacks.
Pink And Sage
Designed by Huzefa Rangwala, Director and Co-Founder of MuseLAB, in collaboration with Jasem Pirani, the 6,500 sq. ft. Ahmedabad home is a warm and inviting family home. The two-tone kitchen in pink and sage green adds an artistic touch to the home. “The living room, dining room and dry kitchen come together to create an inviting and functional environment. Here, form and function are in harmony,” said Pirani. While the color scheme is mostly gray, blush and sage tones are added in three places to enhance their visibility.
